Pet Urine Cleaner
I’ve been meaning to post this cleaning tip for a while now and then today on my drive home, my friend, Samantha, asked me for the instructions on making this cleaning solution. So, today is the day I’ll share my pet urine cleaner solution, which I’ve found is the best way to remove pet urine in a house.
We have 2 dogs and 1 cat in our house:
- Sampson – the tailless Siberian husky
- Calvin – the Shitzou mix
- Squeak Diablo – the devil cat
Inevitably, there are pet messes. And you know, once they go once, it can become a repeat offense quite quickly. I’ve used a ton of store bought products over the course of having Sampson (almost 13 years!!), but most don’t work as they claim. Nature’s Miracle does a good job, but I always like a quick and easy homemade cleaning solution.
The most important thing about pet messes is that most cleaners don’t break down the urine. So ever after your “clean” it, there is a lingering odor, which is an open invitation for a repeat mess. This pet urine cleaner helps to break down the urine, and eliminate the smell.
How to Make Pet Urine Cleaner
You’ll need a spray bottle that can hold a little more than 10 ounces. (You can easily double this).
First, pour 10 ounces of hydrogen peroxide into the spray bottle. Next, 3 teaspoons of white vinegar and then 2 teaspoons of baking soda. Lastly, add a few drops of orange dish soup. It needs to be orange, as this will help with the smell as the other ingredients break down the urine. Gently shake the solution to mix it.
How to Use The Pet Urine Cleaner
You may want to do a test area first before treating a large area that’s visible. To use this solution, simply spray the affected area thoroughly. and then allow it to dry completely. You’ll see a white powdery residue from the baking soda, which is completely normal. Then either vacuum the area if it’s carpet, or wipe down the area with a moist cloth if it’s a hard surface.
Samantha, let me know if Bentley still marks after trying this!
