Best Way to Clean a Glass Stovetop
I have never had a glass stovetop before now. I didn’t realize that they can get discoloration and burn marks on them that do not come off easily. Having a white glass stovetop means that these marks are super obvious and unsightly. Our plan is to replace this oven with a gas one at some point, but in the interim, I was looking for ways to get the glass top back to white. We’ve tried scraping it with a razor blade and cleaners specifically for glass stovetop, but those didn’t do the trick. Have no fear though, I’ve finally found the best way to clean a glass stovetop.
What is the best way to clean a glass stovetop?
Baking soda. That’s it. Well, water too, but the main ingredient is baking soda. I recommend always having baking soda on hand, since it has a ton of great uses!
First, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda onto the burners. Use your fingers to pat it down, being sure to cover any of the burn/discoloration marks.
Next, you’re going to pour a small amount of water over the baking soda. Be sure not to add a ton. Add a little at a time. You don’t want the mixture to become soupy, instead, the consistency should be more of a paste.
Here’s what the baking soda and water paste should look like:
Repeat these steps for each of the burners needing cleaning. Once they are all covered with the baking soda and water mixture, you’re going to cover them all with a paper towel and let them sit for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, use the paper towel wipe (and scrub a little for the really stuck on stains/burns) the marks away from your glass burners. They will look brand new!
Although we have a white glass stovetop, this will work on black ones as well, which can still get burn marks and discoloration.
